The inaugural Hope, Steps & A Cure, a walk to raise funds and awareness about bone marrow failure, took place on July 11, 2009 in conjunction with the AA&MDSIF 2009 Patient and Family Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. Patients, family members, and supporters walked from downtown Indianapolis along White River State Park to the Indianapolis Zoo, some taking a short route of about half a mile and others talking a longer route. The sea of red shirts made for quite a spectacle. Kids carried hand-made flags.
After the walk was a celebratory dinner under a huge tent, with music and dancing.
You can see photos of the walk in the Marrowforums Photo Gallery and at the AA&MDSIF website (http://www.aamds.org/aplastic/get_involved/fundraising/indianapolis_walk.php).
