Gasoline Rewards for Donating Platelets!

Hi all
Well, you never know!
A friend of my from a town I lived in years ago in North New Jersey donates platelets and gets $25 gift cards for gas! (which she has generously donated to me so I win twice!)
Has anyone else heard of this? How do you apply?
I think donations would skyrocket if more people knew about this...(and the way I burn thru platelets, that would be a good thing!)

Rewards for blood and platelet donations are determined by each institution. Sometimes it's simply thanks. But some centers give out small prizes or coupons. This is the most generous one I've heard about. They have to be careful not to make incentives so high that people who shouldn't donate will donate to get the rewards, giving false information during the interview process.

A break on buying gas is a nice reward and I hope it encourages more platelet donations.
