I hope this doesn't sound weird, but do any of you fellow MDS sufferers find that you get really overheated in the face at times? Often my cheeks go bright red and hot, even on cold days, and it's really hard to cool them down quickly.

Wow - I have not mentioned that to anyone - cept my husband - It is not menopause - been all threw that yrs ago. This started after my Vydaza and Decaron treatment. Long after treatment - It'll be interesting if anyone else gets this. My husband said it looks like a tomato. (?);)

I thought menopause had raised its head again. Went through that 10 years ago but get very hot and sweaty. Mainly my face and head. My hair gets wet.
Then I blamed steroids even weeks after having had them :D
Every time I go into hospital I ask for a fan next to the bed.

Thanks for responding Chirley and Susan - not menopause for me either. Been there and done that ages ago, and never had hot flushes anyway. I guess it's comforting to know that it's possibly one of those weird MDS symptoms.

Decadron and other steroids can cause a flushed face and it will make it feel like your cheeks are on fire. It also can make your chest appear sunburned.

Ok, ladies,
From what you are saying, maybe I'm not sliding farther down the menopausal trail. I get hot and sweaty after bathing even though I keep the water cool. No fever, but my family is getting tired of a cold house . .

Steroids, can't live with them, can't live without them!

I asked the specialist down here in Tassie about the hot face yesterday and he told me that it can be a side effect of the gamma globulin I am having infused monthly. Going to take a break from it for a month or two starting in December and see how I go. My specialist in Sydney is a bit sceptical.
