What is the reason for the low platelets? That is the determining factor why anything might work.

Juice of papaya leaves is said to be effective in increasing platelets count in some mosquito borne illnesses that are prevalent in India. Pills made of papaya leaf extract are also available here. You can try to get papaya leaves from an Asian store and extract the juice at home.
Not heard of eating papaya to increase platelets.

Hi Lennyr - how are your husband's Vitamin D and B12 levels?

I posted a message on Health Unlocked which is a United Kingdom web site. The site administrator (Mr. Anthony Heard) responded to my post. He said there was no scientific evidence that papaya raised platelets - if it did we would of known about it not by now. He mentioned that some of these supplements do more harm than good. Even my own hematologist said that a lot of what you read on the internet are false claims of manufacturers trying to sell their products. I personally are using only supplements that I read about at pdsa.org (Platlet Disorder Support Association). Go to their menu - wealth of information.
