RUNX1 gene

Has anyone ever come across the RUNX1 gene? Testing for it, both in the blood and skin biopsy. My docs here in London seem interested in it and have done it to me recently and just curious if anyone has any insight?

RUNX1 is a transcription factor that forms a complex with the cofactor CBFB. This complex provides stability to the RUNX1 protein which is involved in the generation of hematopoietic stem cells and for their differentiation into myeloid and lymphoid lines. Loss of RUNX1 function has been shown to impair differentiation between myeloid and lymphoid lines often resulting in the development of leukemia.

Hey, I had runx1 prior to my stem cell transplant. It predisposes you to getting forms of cancer apparently. They have a new test in Australia which can pick up very small traces of it in your cells. My doctor wanted to make sure it was gone post transplant. Hope that helps 😊
