The results of these investigations show that older MDS patients aren't given referrals for transplant consideration as often as they should be.

The age at which transplants, especially those with reduced intensity conditioning, are viable treatment choices continues to rise, but some physicians may not be aware of transplant opportunities that their older patients should investigate.

My mother's hematologist acts like a BMT is totally out of the question for my 70-year-old mother, who has AA. She almost laughs when mentioning it.

I just saw online that some 75-year-old man had a successful BMT for MDS. He's doing very well. He even had some other health issues like a weaker heart, etc. Amazing!
