painless bruise
I often get unexplained bruises than are painless.
Doctor said should not be my low platelet (cos count is 90-100). I did a von Willebrand screen & its negative. Also notice that I have been losing alot of hair lately, could there be any link? Or could this be some other blood disorder? |
Hi Lindy,
I'm no expert obviously - but when you mentioned losing your hair I immediately thought of your thyroid. I did a search and a sluggish thyroid - hypothyroidism - can cause bruising, hair loss and a myriad of other problems. Hopefully it's something as simple as that. Happy 4th! Sally |
Thanks very much Sally for your reply.
I will check with the doctor about thyroid in my next visit. Just wondering if low platelet count is also a symptom? |
Hey Lindy,
I did a search on "hypothyroidism low platelets" and I did come up with several links that connected the two. That's not to say your thyroid is the cause of your low platelets but you may want to search "hypothyroidism (sluggish)" and "hyperthyroidism (overactive)" and see what the symptoms of each are. Good luck! Sally |
bruises
I have MDS, my body and my arms are covered with bruises, a few on my face and legs. I keep a T shirt on when at the beach, don't want people to think my wife is beating on me.

Your daily life is more important than anything. I'm 79 will be 80 in Feb. I have arthritis in my hands and legs, I also have Chron's. I will tell you ,stay positive. No matter what happens life is only has good has you want it to be, I keep smiling and laughing as much has I can. What was the song a few years back, "don't worry,be happy".
