Cyclosporine/Tacro Induced TMA ( Thrombotic Microangiopathy)

My 10 yr old son may now be suffering from drug induced (Cyclo/Tacro) Thrombotic Microangiopathy post BMT. Does anyone have any advice or in site on this situation. They stopped his Tacrolimus 3 days ago. If you know of this , how long did it take for recovery ?

Hi Shannon.

I replied to your Gmail account.

If your son had schistocytes (red cell fragments) on blood smears, a high LDH and bili, a low haptoglobin and a negative Coombs test (diagnostic criteria for microangiopathy), things should turn around almost immediately. He'll still need blood transfusions but they will start to last longer until he no longer needs them at all.

I've been there and remember how scary it was. Seeking information and being your son's strongest and loudest advocate are the best things you can be doing. Hang in there, better days ahead.
