Normal MPV but low platelets

Does anyone else with AA have a low platelet count (mine is now 25) but a normal MPV. My MPV is 11.1 (the normal range for the lab taking these results is 10.7 - 14.5).

Any results and thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I am no expert

Tashmac

Here is the link to an article that Dr Young and Scheinburg entitled
"How I treat acquired aplastic anemia". They are truely experts

http://bloodjournal.hematologylibrar...1185.full.html

I am no expert with the blood numbers. Many of the numbers will be confusing because basically those of us with AA have little blood so the typical tests are somewhat meaningless. The important numbers are

platelets

White blood cells and neutrophiles,

red blood cells or Hemaglobin, or Hematocrit depending on what the Drs use to give you transfusions.

Liver enzymes, creatinine and blood urea nitrogen measure how the liver and kidneys are doing. Cyclosporine is very difficult on these organs.

Cyclosporine levels should be monitored as well.

My MPV was always normal despite a low platelet count. Normal at my lab was 6.8-10 um^3.
