blood clots in the nose?

Just wondering if anyone has experienced small blood clots in the nose. No active bleeding just a clot. Taking amicar and cyclosporine. Thanks!

My husband got them all the time. No bleeding either, just plugged his nose a bit.

Are they dangerous or just another issue to deal with? My poor mom was terrified that the clot was plugging up a gush of blood that had filled up her sinuses. The doctor said it was okay but not to dislodge it...I would have asked more questions but my parents are a little old school and they just do what they say and don't ask why or what if. It's nice to know your not the only one. Thank you.

It never caused him any problems. He'd wait until he got platelets to blow his nose to relieve some of the pressure (although I'm sure the doctors wouldn't have wanted him doing that).

Yeah...the doctor told my mom not to blow her nose or to try and get rid of it. How is your husband doing now? I hope he is well.

Sesam seed oil

Hi Grifmat,
Your mother could try sesame seed oil nose spray to prevent clots - remember she should not try other oils because many oils can decrease the ability of the platelets to clot. I tried sesam seed oil myself with positive result.
Kind regards

Thank you Brigitta A. I will suggest that to her. I would have never in a million years thought of sesame seed oil as a way to stop blood clots in the nose....we didn't even know you could get a blood clot in the nose. It's so surreal but thank goodness for these forums and all of the lovely people so willing to answer my questions and concerns.

He's making progress. It's slow, but we are getting there. He has reactivation of the EB virus so that's been a bump in the road. He seems to be responding well to treatment though. Thanks for asking! Hope the suggested remedy works for your mom!
