No Vidaza in the UK?

Hi all,
The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) in the UK issued a final ruling saying that VIDAZA should not be funded because NICE claims it is not cost-effective.

Ugh. That's good they're appealing the decision.

Edit: the BBC News story interestingly quotes the cost involved: "According to the manufacturer's estimates, azacitidine costs approximately £45,000 per patient. " I wonder if that's a per year figure? If so, it's a bargain compared to BMT!

Thats what will happen here in America if we don't pay attention to the health care coming down the pipe.

Rose, I agree with you 100%. People need to be aware of what can happen and will happen if the politicians have their way.

There's a news story about the appeal on the top of BBC News Health section. It's good they're keeping this in the media and raising more awareness in the general public.
