MDS Nutritional Counseling - The Pineapple-Platelet Connection

I noted recently, that some of you are concerned with low plateletes. I have been eating fresh pineapple to hopefully increase my platelets. Although each MDS case is different, you may find the following Nutritional Counseling article on Dr. Raza's website of interest in case you are not familiar with it:

www.mdstreatment.org When the St. Vincent's Comprehensive Cancer Center home page comes up, at the top of the page, click on Patient Support, then click on Nutritional Counseling. When Nutrition comes up, scroll down to The Pineapple - Platelete Connection.

On 8/4/08 I started my 6th cycle of Vidaza and my 5th cycle of Aranesp. Platelete count on 8/4/08 was 281 and when starting the Vidaza on 3/17/08 the platelet count was 234. The plateletes fluctuate from time to time.

Under the "Tell Your Story" on the Marrowforums home page, my background is listed on 12/4/06 as Larry Gard's Background. Under the MDS threads, my updates are entitled Vidaza and Thalidomide Combination Therapy. By scrolling down my latest update was posted on 6/17/08.

Good luck to all!
