Typical Rise of numbers with Procrit

What "should" procrit due to my mom's numbers? Is there an average range that it should raise her numbers? How long does it take for it to raise the numbers?

Thanks

EPO drugs

Hi Calimom,
You know Procrit is an EPO drug - a drug that stimulates the bone marrow so it will make more red blood cells. Our kidneys make EPO and if we at dx have a high EPO because our kidneys are working hard to increase our HGB we probably won't respond to Procrit. My EPO initially was more than 800 and I never got an EPO drug.

If your mother had a low EPO at dx (less than 500) she will perhaps respond to Procrit. Neupogen or Neulasta that stimulate the bone marrow to make WBC can increase the response to EPO drugs.

I think the response should be seen after four months.
Kind regards
