Marrowforums has made a number of improvements to its Medical Resources page.

Additional Treatment Centers

Twenty-five more U.S. treatment centers have been added. Many are cancer centers at major university hospitals.

Each newly added treatment center is marked Attachment 312.

Comprehensive Cancer Centers Identified

Treatment centers in the U.S. that the National Cancer Insitute (NCI) has designated as Comprehensive Cancer Centers are now labeled "NCI" with this mark: Attachment 203

These treatment centers have been found by the NCI to have "demonstrated reasonable depth and breadth of research activities in each of three major areas: laboratory, clinical, and population-based research, with substantial transdisciplinary research that bridges these scientific areas" and to have demonstrated "professional and public education and dissemination of clinical and public health advances into the community it serves."

MDS Center of Excellence Identified

Treatment centers that The MDS Foundation has designated as MDS Centers of Excellence are now labeled "CoE" with this mark: Attachment 204

Treatment centers apply for the "Center of Excellence" designation, rather than being selected by independent reviewers. To be listed, an institution should have an established university or equivalent program, recognized expertise in MDS, ongoing research, clinical trials, peer-reviewed publications in the field, and agree to register patients in The MDS Foundation's International MDS Patient Registry.
