Freezing and transplanting ovarian tissue
 

I just saw a news piece about a woman who had parts of her ovary frozen before chemotherapy and the transplanted back in after chemo. She was not only able to have children, but her ovaries started producing hormones too so she avoided menopause.

Has anyone heard of this before or has had experience with it?

This was an option when I spoke to the IVF specialists pre-transplant, but the chances of conceiving with this method are WAY lower than with either frozen embryos or frozen eggs.

In 2009, we were told that the live birth % for frozen embryos was about 20%, for frozen eggs I can't remember the exact percentage, but it was much lower than embryos, and ovarian tissue was even lower still. In general, if you're in a stable relationship, they recommend freezing embryos, as it represents your best chance in future.
