Los Angeles Hope, Steps & A Cure Walk, April 27, 2013

Los Angeles Hope, Steps & A Cure Walk 2013, a fundraising and awareness event to benefit the AA&MDSIF, will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Shoreline Village in Long Beach, CA. It will be a day of fun connecting with fellow patients and families. The event will include inspirational speakers, the Walk, a 5K Run (see next post below), a silent auction, and light refreshments. Check out the video.

Marrowforums members are invited to support Team Marrowforums and help spread the word about this annual fundraiser. Team Marrowforums has already raised over $1000!


Walk Information

We will walk along the scenic marina in Shoreline Village, an easy 1-mile or 2-mile walk.

Registration begins at 9:00am in front of the All American Melodrama Theater (see map). The program and walk will begin at 9:30am.

Signing up
If you can attend
Go to the Walk Registration page, click Individual Walk or Group Walk, fill out the form, and select Team Marrowforums from the Join an Existing Team drop-down list.
To make a donation
Go to the Team Marrowforums page and fill out the Donation Options section. Both named and anonymous donations of any amount are welcome.
Virtual walkers
If you can't attend you can register as a "virtual walker". You register but we do the walking for you, and you'll be able to set your own fundraising goal. Go to the Registration page, click Virtual registration, fill out the form, and select Team Marrowforums from the Join an Existing Team drop-down list.

The registration fee is $25 per person. Each walker and virtual walker is encouraged to set a personal fundraising goal and invite friends and family members to sponsor you online.

Los Angeles Hope, Steps & A Cure 5K Run
 
The AA&MDSIF is holding a 5K Run in conjunction with the Hope, Steps & A Cure Walk. The chip-timed family-friendly race will follow the same beautiful paved paths along the Long Beach Shoreline Marina as the Walk. Prizes will be given to overall winners, masters, and winners within age groups.

Registration begins at 7:00am, in front of the All American Melodrama Theater. The run will begin at 8:00am.

To register, go to the 5K Run Event Page and click Register. Registration costs $30.00 until Tuesday, April 23, 2012, and $35.00 after April 24. T-shirts will be available for the first 200 registrants.

Our starter will be aplastic anemia survivor Lisa Massacani.

You can pick up packets during onsite registration or pick them up ahead of time on Friday, April 26, from 12:00pm to 6:00pm, at:

The Hope, Steps & A Cure Los Angeles Walk and 5K Run is this weekend. Team Marrowforums will be there along with the other teams, walkers, runners, volunteers, supporters, and Mia Hamm and Lisa Massacani as our walk/run starters.

If you're in Southern California, please join us in Long Beach on Saturday.

If not, please use the links above to register as a "virtual walker" or make a donation to help us meet the AA&MDSIF fundraising goals.

The AA&MDSIF uses these funds for patient services, patient advocacy, and support of medical research. This event is for YOUR benefit!

On a beautiful day in Long Beach, California, hundreds of participants made the Hope, Steps & A Cure Los Angeles Walk and 5K Run a great success. Tens of thousands of dollars were raised for the critical work of the Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation, while runners, walkers, patients, family members, and supporters all enjoyed themselves.
