Wish I had better things to say today.

Continuation of Don's illness.
Christmas eve Don suffered a bleed to the brain and spent almost a week in the hospital and was dismissed feeling that he was only suffering from some weakness on the left side. Then on the second of Jan. he had breakfast and I had helped him dress and get ready to go to the Dr. I was attempting to get him out of the house and into the car when his leg gave way and he fell again.
I had to have EMT's again and they felt he needed to go to emergency to be checked out. He was admitted again for 3 days this time, the bleed has shifted and the left leg is not functioning. The 4th of Jan the Dr dismissed him to Hospice care, telling us that Don's bone marrow has totally failed. He also told me that Don is suffering from a very aggressive form of MDS.
Who would have imagined his condition would change so much from a May/June diagnoises to this.
I count myself blessed that he is not a complaining patient.
I wish you all the best in you battle against bone marrow failure.

Dear Geri,

I'm really sorry to hear that Don's situation has changed so rapidly. When the doctors say he has an aggressive form of MDS are they really saying that he has converted to acute leukemia? I hope that Hospice can keep him comfortable and both of you comforted. They are an amazing organization.

Regards,
Ruth

Good Morning,

Ruth in answer to the question about Leukemia, I asked the Dr. that and he said no it's just a very aggressive form of Bone Marrow Failure. They were giving him platelets twice a week and they just wouldn't hold the counts and his white count went down to .5 while he was in the hospital even with the injections.

Zoe, thank you so much, if it were not for prayer I think I would have crumbled quite a while ago.
