secondary mds found after 1 year chemo from other cance

Had surgery, 1st cancer in remission but has only been 1 year since had chemo.
They think epirubicin caused it.

Anyone young like me male, 35, or had Secondary MDS right away after chemo?

All the people on here so far read were 50 and up and most had secondary MDS/AML after 5 or more years.

Anyone with story?
I have a feeling mine is super super bad because happened so fast.
they found it with my blood test and my hemoglobin was 5.4.

currently going thru more tests.

Only secondary mds/aml please.....

I'm in the same boat.

I know it is two years later and I hope things have gone well for you.

In Aug. 2010 I was diagnosed with High-risk APL. Underwent induction therapy, three rounds of chemotherapy, then 2 years of oral chemotherapy. I completed treatment Mar 10, 2013. At the time I was 41 years old. I know what you mean about finding info for younger people.

June 19, 2013 I was diagnosed with severe treatment-related MDS and AML(M6). I had the chromosome 7 deletion and more than three genetic anomalies so the diagnosis was essentially terminal unless I received an urgent bone marrow transplant. I had the transplant Oct. 11, 2013.

It is nearly six months since the transplant and there is no sign of MDS or AML. Recovery has been bumpy but I am doing ok.

The MDS and AML were probably caused by idarubicin.

I'd love to know how you are doing.
