Ferritin levels

Hi! My ferritin levels have gone up from 500 in March to 1000 in December 2017. I havnt had a blood transfusion since 2016! Has anyone else had high levels? I read wheatgrass is effective in lowering. Just wanted other input.
Thanks all! 😊 Lisa

I would check it again a couple of times to make sure it's rising. FE is an acute phase reactant meaning that just about anything can cause it to be elevated. Any infection, fever, inflammation can cause an increased lab reading but doesn't really mean that your iron level are increasing.

Oh thanks for that reply! I was actually sick with acute gastritis when I had those bloods taken. So inflammation plus plus. I am getting more taken this month. Thanks 😊
