Long Term vidaza use??

Hi,
Has anyone been on Vidaza for a long time. A dr. is suggesting I stay on Vidaza indefinitely. I'm wondering about side effect?
Thanks,
Beryl

Hi Beryl,

At MDS conferences that I have attended many of the doctors feel one must stay on Vidaza as long as it is working to control the MDS.

Some patients have been reported to be on Vidaza for many years, they were in the early drug trials with Vidaza before it was approved by the FDA and some are still taking the drug.

Problem with stopping Vidaza.

Hey Beryl:

My doctors tell me that if you stop Vidaza your body may build an immunity to the drug and re-starting won't be effective any longer!

Food for thought,

Ed:rolleyes:

Hey Ed,

Have not heard from you for a couple of weeks.

I posted my report on the first cycle of Vidaza a couple days ago.
How are you doing after your first cycle.

My Doc did say I may go off Vidaza if it shows an improvement and then restart it if necessary. Go figure.

Jerry

Hi,
Has anyone heard about the body building up a resistance to Vidaza while using it and moving into leukemia?
Thanks,
beryl
