Hiring Caregiver/Housekeep

Hi,

I want to hire someone to help my parents do errands, light cleaning, and mostly shop and cook.

My parent currently have a person to clean and do laundry once a week and now she has agreed to help with the errands. This still leaves someone to cook.

I have been cooking extra for my parents, but I work full time and don't even cook for myself. My mom has MDS, and she did all the cooking. My dad is 83 and can't get around well either.

My dad keeps losing weight and good meals would help with mom's nutrition.

Any ideas of how to talk them into letting me hire someone.

Yaka,

I am not sure where you are located, but in the U.S. there is a program called "Meals on Wheels", many seniors in my community receive meals from them.

Hi, when I wasvtoo sick to cook for myself I ordered in Lite and Easy meals. It included breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks. It was formulated by a dietitian and nutritionally balanced. All I had to do was place the evening meal in the microwave but the other meals required a little bit of work, I.e, poaching an egg and toasting a slice of bread for breakfast.

It was okay to get me through the worst of it but I did get sick of it after a while.

Hope you find some solution soon.

Regards

Chirley
