Cycle 2 began today
Cycle 2 of my husband's Sapacitabine clinical trial began today. After his low point from the drug two weeks ago, in which he had to have his first platelet and blood transfusion, his numbers were up significantly today, and he hasn't needed another transfusion. The doctor seemed cautiously optimistic (my term, not his) that perhaps we are having favorable response, even though he admitted it was way too soon to tell. He said even the bone marrow biopsy done today won't tell us anything yet.
But so far so good, and, other than the hair loss (which seemed to surprise the doctor, though I had read it could be a side effect), everything is rolling along. We even got approval to go to our grandson's wedding this weekend and to a car show in Biloxi in October. He just wants us to come and get labs and blood and/or platelets, which will probably be needed since it will be the low point again, the day before we are to leave for our car show trip. It's so good when we get good news for a change. Thank you, Lord. God bless all of you fighting this disease. |

Hi Linda,
Yes, we can all be "cautiously optimistic" and hope that the positive result will continue. Take care! Kind regards Birgitta-A |
Great news! Enjoy the wedding and car show...and don't forget the hand sanitizer!

Hey Linda,
This is such good news. You have come so far in such a short time. We went to Biloxi before Katrina. It was so beautiful. Keep the good news coming and have a great time on your trips. Al is so lucky to have such a loving, caring wife - Patient Advocate as I call myself. God Bless, Sally |
