New diagnosis - need some feed back.

Hello everyone! I am so glad to have found you. I was diagnosed in August with RARS. My counts have improved but I am still very fatigued.

I also have psoriatic arthritis and I am hypo bipolar. you can only imagine the drugs. I weaned myself off all the pain meds. yeah me!!!!!! I am hypo-cellular <30%. we are waiting an watching.

there is a center of excellence 10 miles away, should I go there to get additional information?

even if my counts are better, is it normal to be fatigued?

is there a diet I should be following?

thanks in advance!!!!

AnnMarie,

I'm glad you're looking for answers to help yourself. You're lucky to have a highly rated treatment center nearby. I think you should definitely go there for an evaluation.

There can be many reasons for fatigue other than low blood counts or a disease. They include problems with sleep, diet, exercise, or side effects of medications. Perhaps pain from psoriatic arthritis is wearing you out. In any case, make sure your doctors are aware of the symptoms you're experiencing, how often, and how severe.

If you ask 10 people about the ideal diet, you'll probably get 10 different answers, but the starting place is a generally healthful diet. You'll find diet discussions for MDS patients in these forums and you'll also find advice at other sites like the Athritis Foundation and the Mayo Clinic.

Hello.
I have the same diagnosis: RARS.
I have sent you a private message with some of my ideas!
