MDS can be cured only with a bone marrow transplant or stem cell transplant, but attempting a cure is not necessarily the best choice, especially for patients in their 60s and older. Another choice is to live with MDS, using supportive care like transfusions or drugs that can slow or stop the progress of the disease. See the
