Creatinine

Dear Ziad,
Very good that your father has managed to receive the second cycle of Vidaza and that infection/fever was effectively treated!

I have never read that MDS affects the kidneys and don't think high creatinine is one of the many adverse effects of Vidaza. The increased creatinine is probably due to some other drug. Remember that the kidneys have much reserve capacity - we manage well with one kidney.

Dietists always recommend patients with blood cancer to drink much - 8 glasses of fluid more that they usually drink. Drinking much is a way to help the kidneys to work and decrease the creatinine.
