Hi, the nurses who insert my iv are very good because they do it all the time. Sometimes if I'm cold or dehydrated they have a little bit of trouble and have 2 or 3 goes but even when they have to prod around it doesn't really hurt very much. They don't use local anaesthetic and I don't really think it's necessary unless your veins are really bad or you are a little bit needle phobic. I am very grateful that I don't have fear of needles. On the other hand SPIDERS!!!!
