Hi Eli,
Like Vera I think the drop in Nellies improvement was due to an infection. It is very common that they never find the cause of the initial infection - they have to treat it and hope that they give the best antibiotics.
I have never read anything about a chromosome aberration that have an impact on the platelets - all infections decrease the platelets.
We all hope that Nellie will continue to recover - she is obviously getting the very best care.
