I'm not certain, but I think it depends on how his counts are doing. If they are trending down then doctors might give him an infusion of donor cells. If they are stable, then they'd just monitor him. I have heard of people doing just fine with a mixed chimerism. I know it's a roller coaster and it stinks that everything is out of your control.
