Hi Data. I can see why not knowing would bug you; it would me as well! I'm a n RN and DNS would usually mean Director of Nursing Service, but that wouldn't fit your context. I texted a niece who is an RN and we will see if she knows.  
addendum: sorry, she had no other ideas either.
