I had the exact same symptoms when on the higher doses of cyclosporine right after ATG. This is listed as one of the drug's side effects. It would take me about 30 minutes to get into the shower every morning because of the burning pins and needles feeling. I also couldn't do dishes without gloves on. I was on much too high a dosage, although my trough didn't indicate this.
Lowering my dosage improved things significantly. Now I have a hard time getting -out- of the shower once again 
What is your son's cyclosporine dosage per kg of his body weight?
