I just learned of this forum and am new today. I developed symptoms approximately nine years ago at the age of 65. I was referred to a Hematologist that has chosen to monitor my blood counts without treatment. While I am below the normal ranges in all three categories the counts have been relatively stable.
The Hematologist did not give me a diagnosis stating that perhaps, "it was just me.' Finally about two years ago I insisted that it was not just me as for years my blood counts were always within the normal range and I insisted that we investigate this further. She then set me up for the bone marrow test and bone biopsy. Following this I was also referred to Dr, Steven Gore at Johns Hopkinswho basically supportrd my Hematologist's methodology,
My tests showed less than 5% blasts and thus am in low risk category.

I am not displeased with my current Hematologist but would like to find one closer to where I live in DE that is competent in dealing with MDS.

Any info that you might have in such regard would be greatly appreciated.
