Exclamation Exjade and counts

Hi all,
Exjade is an effective drug for iron overload but can in rare cases lead to that the counts decrease and there is a new warning in Europe:

"THE COMMITTEE FOR MEDICINAL PRODUCTS FOR HUMAN USE FEBRUARY 2009 PLENARY MEETING MONTHLY REPORT

THE COMMITTEE FOR MEDICINAL PRODUCTS FOR HUMAN USE introduced a new warning in section 4.4 of the summary of product characteristics for Exjade (deferasirox) following postmarketing reports (both spontaneous and from clinical trials) of pancytopenia or aggravation of pancytopenia in patients treated with Exjade. Exjade is indicated for the treatment of chronic iron overload due to frequent blood transfusions".

Kind regards
