How old is your son, cskidmore? What treatments has he gotten?

Treating any ongoing pain should be a top concern for his physicians. If he's in any pain they aren't aware of, make sure the doctors hear about it.

I asked about his age because children who are old enough to write (or even just draw) may feel better if they get to express themselves on paper. Maybe that would be useful for your son.

Some young patients find it comforting to put happy face stickers or sad face stickers on a calendar to show which days were better or worse than the day before. It gives them a chance to see that even though some days are bad, some days are improvements.
