I had a bone marrow transplant for MDS in 1998. At that time, stem cells were just beginning to be used for transplants, but the process is mostly the same whether you receive bone marrow or stem cells. You and your sister can read the details of my
story on this site. But, keep in mind that a lot has changed for the better in the past 10 years. Patients are more comfortable throughout and recover faster than they used to. Does your sister have a donor yet?
