Hi JeriM,

If you have an local hematologist who is willing to consult with an AA expert, I would alternatively suggest Dr. Ron Paquette at UCLA. It is a relatively inexpensive SW flight away. There is a cheap shuttle service that will take you from the airport to a few blocks from the hospital. Once established with him, he is very responsive to emails, and he can help direct your local doctor as to treatment. You may only have to physically see Dr. Paquette a couple of times a year, if your local doctor is accommodating. (Unfortunately, not all are.)
