has anyone recalled a situation like this (they are considering giving him oxycontin)

I would be really cautious with starting him on oxy, given how addictive it can be. If they suspect his pain may be nerve related, I would talk to his doctors about trying Botox injections to treat it. I am not an expert but have heard of people that had success with this.
