Harry Carson Scholarship Fund Established

The Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation has announced the creation of the Harry Carson Scholarship Fund for students affected by bone marrow diseases. NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Harry Carson has created the scholarship fund in honor of his son, Donald, who was diagnosed with severe aplastic anemia in December 2005, just five days after he graduated from Savannah State University.

The Harry Carson Scholarship Fund will benefit college students who have or have had bone marrow disease or who have been directly affected by the disease of a family member.

A kick-off fundraising dinner, hosted by Harry and Donald Carson, will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at Ben Benson's Steakhouse in New York City. Guests at the $500 a plate fundraising dinner will include sports figures, prominent businesspeople, and others interested in supporting this most worthy cause.
