I was impressed to read about research going on at Brown University and at ETH Zurich in Switzerland.
They are using supercomputers to simulate red cells in the bloodstream, as a way to study drug delivery methods for different diseases. They say this will help doctors predict, diagnose, and treat several mysterious hematological diseases. Rather than test drugs, as medical researchers do, they are using mathematics to study the mechanisms that affect how drugs work.
