Not all Cyclosporine is created equal. Sandimmune is not bioequivalent to Gengraf. Sandimmune has inconsistent absorption in the intestine, and it is no longer commonly used as an immune suppressant for bone marrow failure diseases in the US. If he was on the same dosage of Sandimmune as Gengraf, the level was probably signficantly lower in his system when he was taking Sandimmune.
