Post Transplant MDS 9 years

Hello everyone on this forum, and to my friends too !
I hope everyone is feeling better that the weather has warmed up. I can?t believe I had my stem cell transplant 9 years ago! I?m doing very well. I?m posting to let everyone reading this forum know that yes, things will get better after transplant with all the pains of gvhd, but I have no regrets on having my transplant.
My gvhd has burnt out, I don?t take medication anymore and maybe next year, my 10th year post transplant, will be my last post. I like to round the numbers for a good sayonara.

I work full time now. I?ve noticed that post transplant, I?ve shied away from pets, babies and sugary or processed foods. My family got together for a reunion, and I met my sibling brother. We talked about the transplant.
I have a blood test this September, as an annual checkup, and I?m confident my blood work will be good.

I pray we all will get better. And caregivers, please take care of yourselves too. My doctors yes, they were very dedicated, but without my husband as my caregiver, I would have had a harder time.
Best regards to everyone,
Meri

Meri T!

It is great to read that you are doing so well post transplant!

I am also an old timer here, although I rarely check in these days.

It has been almost 17 years since I got ATG/Cyclosporine for my AA/MDS diagnosis! I am still Cyclosporine dependent but at a very low dose. I am grateful to be leading a very full life!

To all those new to this forum -
Keep hope alive regardless of the route that you choose - IST or transplant. They are learning more and more how to best treat this disease with each passing year!

Wishing you well!
