I am from the Birmingham area and have MDS. I am due for a bone marrow transplant next week in Nashville. Due to insurance ussues we are unable to use UAB. Who is your doctor and where is he from?

Hey Dixie! Who is your doctor at UAB? How long have you been diagnosed? How long have you been on treatment before BMT was considered? Hope you don't mind all the ?'s. I also have MDS (diagnosed June 09 age 37) and I see Dr. Foran at UAB. I have an appointment next week at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. I LOVE Dr. Foran but we are going to Mayo to try and figure out my upper left side pain.

I was diagnoised with MDS in December 2008. I was teated with dacgon for about 8 months and due to UAB not taking our insurance we were refered to Dr. Strickland here at Vandrtbilt in Nashville. I am on my 2nd round of chemo and have done really well so far with no sie effects.
