prograf and dietary supplements
My husband ordered us some stuff to make shakes to help us lose some weight. I was just reading over the drug fact sheet that comes with my prograf and it said some dietary supplements could affect the way the medicine works. Anyone have any experience with this? I'm going to talk to my doctor but just wanted to see if anyone else had used any diet stuff while taking transplant meds.

You may want to ask your Pharmacists about the interactions. They're probably more informed about them.

supplements
I was told to avoid whey protein isolate, high doses of lactobacillus - no more than is in Activia yogurt, grapefruit, and blood oranges. Any supplement that activates the immune system will counteract Prograf, which is an immunosuppressant. I learned from my pharmacist when I was first diagnosed with AML that I can't take anything without checking with my oncologist first.
I hope you find this helpful. Good luck with the shakes!
