Unusual jump in WCC

Hi all - I currently have an upper respiratory tract infection. Today when I had my regular 4-weekly CBC, I was shocked to see that my WCC was 4.3 with neutrophils 2.9, monocytes 0.9 and lymphs 0.5. The highest these have been for many years are WCC 2.9, neuts 1.9 and monocytes 0.6 - again when I was sick. Lymphs are only slightly higher than my usual count. I'm not on antibiotics but am starting this evening since after 5 days I'm not getting better.

Is this good news? I have never had counts this high since I started having regular blood tests in 2006.

My haem told e that if your bone marrow can throw out white cells when they are needed, as in when you have an infection, it's a very positive sign that it's still able to work well.
