Need Doctor in SF, CA Area

I have been searching for an AA specialist in the Bay Area (San Francisco, Alameda). The one recommended to me at Stanford is on a 6 month sabbatical (and costs thousands). Has anyone had any experience with a hematologist at UCSF?? Any recommendations would be hugely appreciated.

I think there was a thread recently about this.

Hi JeriM,

If you have an local hematologist who is willing to consult with an AA expert, I would alternatively suggest Dr. Ron Paquette at UCLA. It is a relatively inexpensive SW flight away. There is a cheap shuttle service that will take you from the airport to a few blocks from the hospital. Once established with him, he is very responsive to emails, and he can help direct your local doctor as to treatment. You may only have to physically see Dr. Paquette a couple of times a year, if your local doctor is accommodating. (Unfortunately, not all are.)

Hi JeriM, you might want to call AAMDS and ask them about AA specialist at UCSF. I'm sure they have obtained a list of doctors that people in our area have consulted or are consulting.

We are in San Jose and my 21 y-o son is being seen by Dr. Ann Von Gehr at Kaiser.

Although we live in San Jose area we are seeing Dr. Logan at UCSF. Highly recommend him. http://profiles.ucsf.edu/aaron.logan. My husband finished ATG in September at UCSF. We can't say enough good things about their facilities. During our stay, our attending Doctor was Dr. Ai. She was exceptionally good too. http://www.ucsfhealth.org/wei.ai
