Kathleen Weis at the Santa Clara Patient and Family Conference, July 2015
As of July 16, 2015, Kathleen Weis is the new Chief Executive Officer of the
Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation (AA&MDSIF). We join others in our community in welcoming her.
Kathleen Weis has managed teams both large and small, worked with volunteers, and has wide experience in health care organizations. She held several executive positions with the American Red Cross, including as CEO of the American Red Cross Gold Country Region in California. She earned a B.A. at Michigan State University and a Master’s Degree in Public Service at DePaul University.
She had her first chance to meet bone marrow failure disease patients and their families at the recent
AA&MDSIF Patient and Family Conference in Santa Clara, California. She's already learning about the unique characteristics of bone marrow failure diseases and the special needs of patients.
Former AA&MDSIF Executive Director John Huber has retired, after leading the AA&MDSIF for 8 years. A friend to many patients and families, Huber plans to spend time doing volunteer work and may write a book on non-profit management. We wish him well.
