Iron Overload & MDS
We are curious if anyone with MDS who has ringed sideroblasts has the following: (1) perspiration leaves grey or rust colored marks on necks of shirts or clothing; (2) something on the skin "etches" anything silver, such as rings, eye glasses, pens?
Paul has had these symptoms for many years and it just recently occurred to us that there might be a connection. His iron count is higher than normal, but not in the treatment zone as of yet. Just curious. |

Please double check he has had his copper levels checked.

ringed sideroblasts
I have MDS Refractory Anemia with ringed sideroblasts diagnosed in June 2015. I currently am transfusion dependent with levels of Ferritin at 927. I have only noticed a grayish mark on a ring finger on my right hand where I wear a gold ring. My other fingers show no such marks and I wear silver and gold on other fingers as well. I have thought it odd that I have never noticed other grayish marks on the other fingers as well. I have also never noticed markings on clothing but will watch in the future and know that it could suggest elevated iron levels.
