Any Information on Statins and MDS?

Hi,

(This is my first post on marrowforums.)

I came across the following paper while doing other literature research. It mentions the use of statins as a positive benefit (not as a treatment but only as a characteristic of a patient) in treatment for AML. Specifically, people on statins were more likely to have complete remission (CR) when treated for AML.

Finn, L., et al. Cancer Epidemiology 39 (2015) 1084–1092

The work was done by Mayo Clinic staff, so it probably has some merit.

Wondering if statins would confer benefit for those of us with MDS (me: Dx 2010, MDS-RCMD, low IPPS-R score, 47yo at time of Dx.)

Statins seem to have an anti-inflammatory activity in our blood vessels - why not an anti-inflammatory activity in our bone marrow?
