Confusion
I am still waiting on the rest of the reports, but can anyone explain what this means? Also in sideroblastic anemia would you see it in the biopsy or only the aspirate?
"Mild to moderately hypocellular marrow with hemorrhage into the marrow space with relative erythroid hyperplasia. Optimal evaluation is precluded by disrupted marrow and hemorrhage. No evidence of sideroblasts seen. " Okay so does this optimal evaluation mean anything that is listed isn't accurate or what is written they could tell, but it was hard to tell the rest? |

From what I can see, it means that the results are incomplete, not necessarily inaccurate.

So what would make them complete? Another biopsy?

Hi Meahgee,
I always assumed that "no evidence of sideroblasts seen" on my BMB reports was just an indication that they checked for them and didn't see them. So, I wouldn't worry about this statement on the report. I would ask the doctor about the reason for the "hemorrhaging in the marrow space"- was this because of problems with the biopsy extraction or is it a sign of something else going on in the marrow?? Hope you get more clarity when the rest of the reports come in.
