Unhappy Question about CBC results

Hello! My 43 year old husband has had a CBC twice over the past few months and the first time he had a 3.1% myelocytes and high eosinophils and high basophils but otherwise else at normal levels.
The 2nd time it’s down to 3.0% myelocytes and everything else in normal range. He is otherwise healthy.
He is going to be retested again in a couple months but I am wondering how much of a chance is there this could be leukemia or some kind of bone marrow disorder?
Thank you!

Sara,

With the information provided, I don't think that you can draw any good conclusions. When myelocytes are high, it is a sign of marrow stress, but it is really difficult to ascribe a reason without more history and testing. Some causes are viral infections, vitamin deficiencies, hormone imbalances, and of course the other possibilities of some form of marrow failure.

The percentage does not seem that high at a glance, especially with everything else in order.

Unfortunately, I think that additional testing and patience are going to be needed to get to the root cause.

Dan

Thank you so much for your reply! It’s so hard to find much about this on the internet. The only thing he has with health history is asthma and he now just found out he also has high cholesterol. But he is otherwise healthy. Thank you again.
