First bone marrow biopsy

I had my first bone marrow biopsy done yesterday, I will not receive results for about a week. I just had a question. While doing the biopsy, the doctor was not able to extract any blood from my bone for a sample. Is this normal? I tried to locate what it could mean, but I'm not coming up with much information. I received a strong chemo type drug last April, and it has completely confused my immune system, that's why I was referred to a hemataligist, who after extensive blood work, told me I needed the biopsy. Thanks for any help.

Hi, sorry you had to go through a biopsy. I've had a few, not for nearly 2 years now! When one of the doctors had trouble getting an aspiration from me, my White cells and red cells were lower than normal... But each individual is different.
I'm sure there is a better answer, but that was my experiece.
Hope your results are good!
Lisa

The doctors had quite a bit of trouble getting bone marrow biopsies that were sufficiently good for proper readings a few times due to marrow fibrosis in my case.
